KONG Classic / KONG Extreme — review & rating

Rating: 92/100 · Outstanding · Updated: 2026-06-13 · DEMO — data pending verification

Is KONG Classic / KONG Extreme a good choice?

The category benchmark and the safe-material standard. Stuffed and frozen it's the best boredom-buster in the business, and the black Extreme covers strong chewers. Size it correctly — too small is a choking risk — and discard once chewed through; even Extreme isn't truly indestructible.

Frequently asked questions

Classic (red) or Extreme (black)?

Red Classic suits most dogs; black Extreme is the tougher rubber for dogs that destroy the Classic. Puppies have their own softer version. All are safe, springy rubber that won't fracture teeth like antlers.

What size KONG do I need?

Size up — it must be too big to fit whole in the mouth. For large dogs choose XL/XXL even if a Large looks adequate.
